UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Grand Canyon finished its first competition of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, tying for sixth place out of 16 schools in the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay.

- GCU dropped two spots from Monday's two-round standing and finished with a 32-over-par team score. The Lopes tied with Seattle U and placed ahead of Washington and Colorado by one stroke and two strokes, respectively.
- Of four Mountain West programs that competed in the state of Washington this week, GCU recorded the second-best-score in its first tournament as a Mountain West member.
- Lopes junior Lena Tremouille finished tied for 24th at 8 over par. Tremouille shot 4 over Tuesday with two birdies.
GCU began the day on holes 1-5 among the field's best teams and tallied five birdies on the front nine. Only two teams finished even par or better in Tuesday's third round, with the Lopes concluding the tournament with the most pars as a team (160).
Freshman
Alexis Vakasiuola and junior
Jess Haines were GCU's top finishers, tying for 31st at 9 over. Vakasiuola had the squad's best third-round score at 3 over, including an even-par showing over her final 11 holes.
Lopes freshman
Rosie Maguire tied for 41st (13 over) while sophomore teammate
Allie Justiz tied for 71st (21 over).
The Lopes return to action next Monday, Sept. 22, at the two-day Wollenberg Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colorado.
