Coming off her best finish of the 2025-26 season, Grand Canyon freshman
Alexis Vakasiuola claimed two Mountain West weekly awards, sweeping the conference's Golfer and Freshman of the Week accolades.

The honors are the first of her career and first of the season for Grand Canyon.
Vakasiuola totaled a 6-under-par scorecard at the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic in Palm Desert, California, last weekend to place second out of 96 golfers. The Combs High School alumnus and San Tan Valley native totaled 12 birdies – five each in her first and final rounds – and carded five birdies to just one bogey over her final 27 holes.
Vakasiuola finished above many nationally ranked players in the field and was one of three players to go below par over 54 holes.
Her final scoreline was 67/73/67 at the par-71 Monterey Country Club.
GCU is back in action Tuesday for the two-day GCU Invitational at GCU Golf Course.
