MW sets tournament schedule, format for March

12 qualifiers vie for each conference title at Las Vegas' Thomas & Mack Center
As a new Mountain West member, Grand Canyon now knows how and when its first basketball venture into MW Madness will occur in March.
The conference announced its new format and schedule with the men's and women's Mountain West Championship each having all 12 teams participate at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The UNLV arena will host the women's tournament from March 7-10 and the men's tournament from March 11 to March 14.
The MW Championship brackets are formatted to give byes to the top four conference finishers in each regular-season standing, putting those No. 1 through No. 4 seeds in the quarterfinals and adding a day to each tournament. Tournament games will be played on four consecutive days in each tournament, starting with four games in each bracket's first round for the No. 5 through No. 12 seeds and concluding with 6:30 p.m. championship games on March 10 for the women and March 14 for the men.
