BREMERTON, Wash. – Competing in its second tournament two days after wrapping up its opener in New Mexico, Grand Canyon tied for sixth place after the first round of The Tindall at Gold Mountain Golf Club before sliding to 12th when second-round play was halted due to darkness Monday.

- GCU is in 12th place at 1 over par for the tournament after shooting 1 under as a team in the first round.
- Lopes freshman Daniel Nilsson is tied for 17th overall out of 75 golfers with a 2-under card. Nilsson shot a 2-under first round and notched a team-high six birdies, including three on holes 4-6.
- GCU sophomore Campbell Kerr is one shot back of Nilsson in a tie for 20th place at 1 under. Kerr went even over his first 18 holes and was one of two Lopes to complete the second round when he shot 1 under.
- The Lopes have made 35 birdies, tied for sixth most in the 14-team field.
Each golfer started at the first hole and regrouped after five recording bogeys once each golfer had played three holes. Nilsson recorded three straight birdies, while Kerr and sophomore teammate
Matthew Diehl each had two more birdies over their next five holes.
Diehl matched Kerr with an even-par first round, while GCU sophomore
Nixon Lauritzen went 1 over and sophomore Mans Boje, who competed for the first time as a scoring player this season, shot 2 over. Diehl, Lauritzen and Boje combined for 11 birdies.
Nilsson's second round started slow before catching fire on the back nine. The Norwegian shot 4 under with four birdies and has one second-round hole remaining at the par-4 18th.
GCU has only carded three bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine before play was halted. It has combined for nine birdies and 25 pars, as three of the five golfers will finish their second round Tuesday, when the third round will cap the tournament.
