The GCU soccer field was first opened in the fall of 2000 and with the addition of field lights, hosted its first night games in the fall of 2002. It is the first regular season facility for the soccer teams, who in previous years competed at an off-campus facility.
If it wasn’t for the dedication and hard work of many contributors, the GCU soccer field would not be a reality today. Having played many ‘home’ games on another field, the dream of a home field advantage became possible because of a distinguished group of people. Jerry Barnier (Suntec Concrete) began the construction of GCU’s current facility, which was eventually completed by Rod Levake (Levake Concrete Construction). In addition to these two men, Ali Alexander and Mark Nabity are also responsible for its completion. The soccer team played its first night game in the fall of 2002, thanks to the contributions and hard work of Sunsol Electrical Contractors. Without this group of people, this field would not be here today.
The GCU soccer field is home to the men’s and women’s soccer teams, as well as the men’s lacrosse team. This facility is more than a field; it is a home of enthusiasm, commitment, and athletic excellence.
