Coming off a season best performance, including the top team score at the Western Athletic Conference Championship, the Grand Canyon men's golf team continues to impress this summer.Â
Jake Chanen headlines the Lopes as the Phoenix native has qualified for the US Amateur.Â

At the US Amateur Sectional Qualifier at Moon Valley Country Club, Chanen finished runner-up after rounds of 67-68, good for a -9 total. Chanen will now head to the US Amatuer at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., August 14-20.
One of the world's great tournament sites, Riviera also hosted the 1983 and 1995 PGA Championships and has been the site of the PGA Tour event in Los Angeles 55 times in its 91-year history, including 42 of the past 44 years. The classic layout features a distinctive par-4 finishing hole with a green surrounded by a natural amphitheater that provides a commanding view of the clubhouse.
Many of golf's legendary players have won the U.S. Amateur Championship, including Robert T. Jones Jr. (1924, 1925, 1927, 1928, 1930), Arnold Palmer (1954), Jack Nicklaus (1959, 1961), Phil Mickelson (1990) and Tiger Woods (1994, 1995, 1996).
Estevez finished just outside the top-10 at the US Amateur Sectional Qualifier, firing a final round 67 and a 141 total. Estevez continues to have a strong summer including a victory at the 2017 Falcon Amateur. He fired a two-day total of 136 (70-66) at Falcon Dunes Golf Club, located just north of Luke Air Force Base.
Sekulic recently won the Alberta Junior Championship at Coal Creek Golf Resort in Ryley, Alta. The incoming freshman has also finished 12
th at the Future Links driven by Acura Pacific Championship.
