Staff promotions announced from GCU Athletics

PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon Athletic Department recently announced several key staff promotions from across the department, Vice President of Athletics Mike Vaught officially announced on Tuesday.
Gabe Bourland was promoted to the position of Director of Sports Performance. Bourland will oversee the strength and conditioning department and will work directly with the men's basketball team. He most recently served as GCU's strength coach for baseball and men's volleyball. Prior to joining GCU, he served as the assistant coordinator for sports performance for the Seattle Mariners organization.
Additionally, the departments announced Micah Meyer as the new Senior Director of Business Operations. Meyer will be responsible for overseeing the Athletics Department budget, managing all fiscal and budgetary matters to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference and university regulations, among other duties. Micah most recently served as GCU's Director of Compliance. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from GCU and was a member of the golf team. He later earned his MBA with an emphasis in Finance from GCU as well. A national search for his replacement in the compliance office will begin immediately.
As part of the business office transition, Mark Wilty will now serve as the Assistant Athletic Director for Purchasing and Equipment Operations. Wilty will take on additional business operations responsibilities, on top of the equipment operations department he has overseen since joining GCU from South Florida in 2015.
Chloe Jenkins, who played beach volleyball at GCU from 2013-16, volleyball in 2016 and graduated this spring, was hired full-time in the department as Athletics Administration Coordinator.
