Grand Canyon University women’s basketball coach Trent May has announced the signing of junior college point guard Madison Craig.
Craig, who will have three years of eligibility remaining, comes from Ohlone College in Fremont, Calif. She played high school basketball at Foothill in Pleasanton Calif.
At Ohlone, she average 10.9 points and 4.5 assists, ranking second in the Coast Conference South Division. Her 2.5 assist/turnover ratio and 35.1 percent 3-point shooting both ranked fifth in the league. She also averaged 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and shot 80 percent from the free throw line.
At Foothill, she wrapped up her career by breaking the 10-year old school record for total points and averaged 15.8 points, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per contest for her senior season.
“Madison comes to GCU with a lot of quality game experience from her freshman year and has three years left,” said May of the 5-8 guard. “She really understands the game and has a great court sense about her. We look forward to Madison being a part of our program & adding a lot to our guard play.”
Craig joins GCU’s initial D-I recruiting class that includes freshman center Tori Morris (Herndon, Va.), senior forwards Johnna Brown (Dixie State transfer) and Dominique Scott (USC transfer) and freshmen guards Astrea Reed (Albuquerque, N.M.) and August Touchard (Newport Beach, Calif.).
