The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team climbed one spot to a tie for 12th-place after the second round of the NCAA Championships at the par-71 Hershey Country Club course in Hershey, Pa. The Antelopes shot 18-over 302 for the second consecutive day and now trail first-place Barry (4-over, 572) by 32 shots. Nova Southeastern (582) is in second, while Florida Southern sits in third (587).
The top eight teams after three rounds (54 holes) will qualify for match play to determine the 2013 NCAA Champion. The Antelopes are currently seven shots out of a qualifying spot.
Jimmy Kozikowski continues to pace the Antelopes, carding a 1-under 141 and is tied for third overall. He had four birdies during his round today and was 1-under before bogeying his final two holes.
Rob Damschen of Cal State Stanislaus took over the individual lead with a 4-under 138. Matt Atkins of South Carolina-Aiken is in second (139), while Marcus Segerstrom and Adam Svensson, both from Barry, are also tied for third.
Grand Canyon’s
Mark Geddes is 3-over 145 after two rounds, posting a 73 today.
Alec Dahlquist climbed 20 spots and was the next highest placed Antelope, finishing in a tie for 47th with a 10-over 152.
The third and final round of the 54-hole NCAA Men’s Championship will be played tomorrow. Grand Canyon is scheduled to begin their round at 5:20 a.m. (Arizona time). Match play is set to begin on Thursday.
