Grand Canyon's wrestling team had four champions at the Embry-Riddle Mile High Open in Prescott, Ariz., Saturday.
The Antelopes' Austin Solari (141), Gavin Ludwig (165), Austin Gaun (184) and Peter Anguiano (285) all won titles in their respective weight classes.
"It's early in the season and we want to get a lot of mat time before the break," said GCU coach R.C. LaHaye. "It was a good effort all-around.
"It was a good effort from Gaun and Solari, two true freshmen to win a tournament. It shows what happens when you work hard. Ludwig and Peter had a good tournament, as well."
Nate Zobott added a second at 285, while AJ Salazar (125), Chayse Jackson (157) and Martin Fabbian (174) each earned thirds. Fourth place finishes went to Marcus Haughian (197), Connor Pelzel (157), Jesse Taylor (141) and Levi Maes (125), who was wrestling unattached.
LaHaye added, "Our young guys came out and wrestled and that's what we need right now."
Next up for the Antelopes is a Dec. 6-7 trip to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational.
