First time in conference history that two schools share honor
The Pacific West Conference announced that Grand Canyon University and Dominican University of California are co-winners of the PacWest Academic Achievement Award. The accolade is the first of many to be unveiled this month from the conference.
The Antelopes posted an overall grade point average of 3.26 to earn the honor for the first time. The award was also the third consecutive for Dominican. The two schools had the highest averages among the 10 institutions in the conference. The grade point average for each school is based upon how each student athlete performed in the classroom during the 2011-12 academic year.
Earlier this summer, the ‘Lopes received the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup as the top Division II athletic program in the country.
