The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team won their fourth Pacific West Conference Championship in the past six years with a 16-stroke victory today on the Par-72 King’s Course at the Waikoloa Beach Resort in Hilo, Hawai’i.
GCU finished the 54-hole championship by shooting a combined 7-over 871 to finish 16-strokes ahead of second-place Dixie State (887). Host and defending champion, Hawai’i Hilo, finished third with an 895.
The Antelopes fired a round-low 299 in windy conditions today to extend what was a nine-stroke lead after the first two rounds of play. Wind gusts swirled upwards to 35 mph during the third and final round.
Marcus Synegal was the highest placed Antelope, finishing in third with a 1-under 215. Steven Watson of California Baptist finished first after carding a 5-under 211.

Mark Geddes completed the championship in fifth with a 1-over 217, followed by teammates
Ryan Mahoney (219) and
Brandon Moore (220).
Synegal, Geddes, Mahoney and Moore were all named to the First Team All-PacWest squad for their efforts. The full list of award winners can be viewed

GCU, ranked fifth in the recently released NCAA West Region Poll, will now turn their attention to the NCAA West Regional that will be held on the Gold Course at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Ariz. from May 7-9. The regional will feature 10 teams from both the West and Central Regions, with the top-five schools and top-two individuals not on a qualifying school, advancing to the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky. The NCAA Championships will be contested on the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Louisville from May 15-19.
