Antelopes win two of three in Davenport

Chris Lockwood had 18 total kills in GCU's first two matches at the Fighting Bee Classic.
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Grand Canyon (10-15) won two of three matches in the Fighting Bee Classic at St. Ambrose University Friday.
GCU opened with a 3-0 loss NAIA No. 6 Lindenwood by set scores of 30-27, 32-30, 30-27. The Antelopes followed with a win over NAIA No. 5 Park 30-28, 30-28, 30-24.
To finish off the day, Grand Canyon defeated Siena Heights 27-30, 30-20, 30-18, 30-25.
In the loss to Lindenwood, freshman middle hitter Chris Lockwood had a .600 hitting percentage and nine kills. Sophomore middle hitter Nick Jensen also had nine kills and a .467 average. Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Griffin had a .391 attack average and 12 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Brock Hutchins added nine kills.
Freshman setter Brad Moore had 43 assists and frosh libero Trent Bruns had 13 digs.
Against Park, sophomore defensive specialist Dan Ballenger had three service aces. Griffin had 10 kills and a .500 average. Hutchins had 13 kills and a .258 percentage. Lockwood added nine kills.
Grand Canyon will take on Moody Bible at 8 a.m. Saturday and NAIA No. 4 and host St. Ambrose at 2 p.m.
