Carazo Named RMAC Wrestler of the Week

Grand Canyon University redshirt sophomore Victor Carazo (Modesto, CA/Modesto Junior College) has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Carazo went 2-0 this past week in duals, winning a 5-3 decision over No. 7 Blake Malloy of Fort Hays State and an overtime decision over defending RMAC champion and All-American Taylor May of Nebraska-Kearney.
Carazo is 32-4 overall and 11-0 at 165 pounds, and has won 13 straight matches. He has defeated four of the current nationally-ranked wrestlers in the 165- and 174-pound weight classes this season. He currently is ranked No. 6 at 165.
Carazo is the second Antelopes wrestler to be named RMAC Wrestler of the Week. Junior Todd Wilcox (Sacramento, CA/Sierra College), currently ranked No. 6 at 133 pounds, won the award for the week of Nov. 17.
The 'Lopes and all RMAC teams will compete in the NCAA Super Regional 4/RMAC Championships this Saturday, Feb. 27, at Plachy Hall in Alamosa, CO. GCU is one of six RMAC schools ranked in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association Top 20 Poll: Nebraska-Kearney, 7th; Western State, tied for 11th; Fort Hays State, 14th; Adams State, 15th; San Francisco State, 18th; and GCU, 20th.
